【原文】
建信君轻韩熙，赵敖为谓建信侯国形有之而存、无之而亡者, 魏也；不可无而从者，韩也。今君之轻韩熙者，交善楚、魏也。秦见君之 交反善于楚、魏也，其收韩必重矣。从则韩轻，横则韩重，则无从轻矣。 秦出兵于川，则南围鄢，蔡、邵之道不通矣。魏急，其救赵必缓矣。秦 举兵破邯郸，赵必亡矣。故君收韩，可以无害
【今译】
建信君轻视韩熙，赵敖为韩熙对建信君说；“根据我们国家的形势， 有一个国家，争取到它我国就能保全，失去了它就会灭亡，这个国家就 是魏国。离开了一个国家就不能合纵，这个国家就是韩国。现在您轻 视韩熙，是因为跟楚国和魏国建立友好邦交的缘故。秦国发觉您反过 来跟楚国和魏国的交情好了，一定会注重拉拢韩国的。合纵，韩国的地 位就会降低；连横，韩国的地位就会提高。那就不要采取降低自己地位 的做法了。秦国派兵进攻三川，就会向南包围鄢陵，通往上蔡和召陵的 道路就不通了。魏国吃紧了，它对赵国的援救就必定放慢了。秦国派 兵攻破邯郸，赵国就一定会灭亡了。所以您争取到韩国，就可以没有疏 漏了

If the troops of Qin conquer the city of Handan” the state of Zhao will be destroyed. So，if you win over the state of Han, you will be free from trouble. ”
