苏代为燕说齐
Su Dai Prevailed upon Qi to Employ Him on Behalf of Yan
【原文】
苏代为燕说齐，未见齐王，先说淳于髡曰广人有卖骏马者，比三旦 立市，人莫之知。往见伯乐，曰：‘臣有骏马，欲卖之，比三旦立于市，人 莫与言,愿子还而视之，去而顾之。臣请献一朝之贾。’伯乐乃还而视 之，去而顾之,—旦而马价十倍。今臣欲以骏马见于王，莫为臣先后者。 足下有意为臣伯乐乎？臣请献白璧一双，黄金万镒，以为马食
【今译】
苏代为燕国到齐国去游说.还没有见到齐王，先游说淳于髡道有 一个人卖一匹骏马，一连在集市上等了三天，没有人知道这是一匹好 马。那人就去见伯乐，说：‘我有一匹駿马，想卖掉它，一连在集市上等 了三天，也没有人跟我搭话。希望您去绕着这匹马看一團，离开的时候 回头望望它。我奉献上一个上午的费用.，于是伯乐就去绕着这匹马看 了一圈，离开的时候又固头张望它，马的价钱一下子就抬高了十倍。现 在我想做一匹駿马谪见大王，没有人为我引见。您想做我的伯乐吗? 我会献上一对白玉、一千镒黄金，作为马的饲料。”
On behalf of the state of Yan, Su Dai prevailed upon the king of the state of Qi to employ him. But before he went to see the king of Qi, he talked with Chunyu Kun first. He said， “Once a man tried to sell his swift horse. He waited in the market for three days in a row，but no one would examine the horse. Then he went to see Bo Le and said，‘I have a swift horse and want to sell it, I have been to the market for three days in a row，but no one talked with me regarding the horse. I hope that you can go there to examine the horse and make sure that you turn around to take a second look at it when you leave. I will pay you the expenses for one morning. So Bo Le examined the horse and turned around to take a look at it again when he left. The price of the horse soon rose by ten times. Now I want to show my swift horse (referring to himself) to His Majesty, but no one will introduce me to him. Would you please act as my Bo Le? I will present you with a pair of white jades along with one thousand yi of gold, so that you can buy some fodder for your horse."

淳于髡曰广谨闻命矣。”人言之王而见之，齐王大说苏子。

淳于髡说广我恭谨地听从命令。”进宫拜见齐王并引见了苏代，齐 王十分欣赏苏代。
