Yue Yi, Also Known as Lord Changguo, Attacked Qi with Allied Forces Drawn from Five States on Behalf of King Zhao of Yan
昌国君乐毅为燕昭王合五国之兵而攻齐
Yue Yi，also known as Lord Changguo, attacked the state of Qi with allied forces drawn from five states on behalf of King Zhao of the state of Yan. He occupied more than seventy cities and transferred them to the state of Yan. Only three cities were still under control of the troops of Qi. At that time, King Zhao of Yan died. King Hui took over the throne. He put his trust in the spies from the state of Qi and therefore became suspicious of Yue Yi. As a result, he sent Qi Jie to replace Yue Yi as Commander-in-Chief, Yue Yi fled to the state of Zhao, and Zhao proclaimed him to be Lord Wangzhu. Tian Dan, the general of the troops of Qi,deceived Qi Jie and thus finally defeated the troops of Yan and reoccupied those seventy cities and towns previously seized by them. The king of Yan regretted this，and he also feared that Yue Yi might take occasion to attack the state of Yan when its troops were exhausted.

昌国君乐毅为燕昭王合五国之兵而攻齐，下七十余城，尽郡县之以 属燕。三城未下，而燕昭王死。惠王即位，用齐人反间，疑乐毅，而使骑 劫代之将。乐毅奔赵，赵封以为望诸君。齐田单欺诈骑劫，卒败燕军， 复收七十城以复齐。燕王悔，惧赵用乐毅承燕之弊以伐燕。
【今译】
昌国君乐毅为燕昭王联合赵、秦、韩、魏、燕五国的兵力进攻齐国， 攻克七十多座城邑，所有的郡县都划归燕国。还有三座城邑没有攻下， 燕昭王就死了。燕惠王即位，中了齐人的反间计，怀疑乐毅，从而派骑 劫代替乐毅为将军。乐毅投奔赵国，赵国封他为望诸君。齐国的田单 欺骗了骑劫，最终击敗了燕国军队，收复了那七十座城邑并觅重建齐 国。燕惠王后悔了，害怕赵国任用乐毅趁着煞国疲弊之际来进攻燕国，
So the king of Yan sent a letter to Yue Yi to scold him as well as say sorry to him. The letter stated，“Our deceased king entrusted you with our state. You have defeated the state of Qi for our state and sought revenge for our deceased king，and people all over the world admire your efforts. How can I ever forget your military achievements? Unfortunately， our former king has passed away，and I have just taken over the state? but have been misled by the people around me, I sent General Qi Jie to replace you because I thought that you have fought abroad for too long and therefore wanted to call you back to have a rest and to plan some tactics with me. However, you misunderstood me and therefore felt distanced from me. As a result, you left our state for the state of Zhao. If you did this for yourself, it seems reasonable, but how can you repay our deceased king by so doing?”

燕王乃使人让乐毅，且谢之曰先王举闰而委将军，将军为燕破齐，报先王之仇，天下莫不振动，寡人岂敢一日而忘将军之功哉？会先 王弃群臣，寡人新即位，左右误寡人.寡人之使骑劫代将军者，为将军 久暴露于外，故召将军且休计事。将军过听，以与寡人有郄,遂捐燕而 归赵。将军自为计则可矣，而亦何以报先王之所以遇将军之意乎？”
【今译】
燕王派人谴责乐毅，并且向他道歉说：“先王把整个国家都委托给了将军您。将军为燕国攻破齐国，为先王报仇，天下没有人不感到震动 的。我怎敢一下子就忘记将军的功劳呢？正赶上先王去世，我刚刚即 位，身边的人误导了我。我之所以让骑劫替换了将军您，是因为将军长 时间在外作战，所以召回将军休整一下，并且要跟您商议大事。将军错 误地听信传言，从而跟我之间有了矛盾，于是就抛弃燕国而投靠赵国。 将军为自己作打算是可以的，然而如何能报答先王对您寄予的厚望 呢？”
