Someone Had a Talk with Lord Shanyang
【原文】
或谓山阳君曰秦封君以山阳，齐封君以莒。齐、秦非重韩，则贤 君之行也,今楚攻齐取莒，上及不交齐，次弗纳于君，是棘齐、秦之威而轻韩也,山阳君因使之楚。
【今译】
有人对山阳君说秦国把山阳分封给您，齐国把莒分封给您。齐 国和秦国如果不是重视韩国，就是认为您的举止贤明。如今楚国进攻齐国，占领了莒，首先是断绝了跟齐国的交情，其次不让您接管莒地，这就是小看齐国和秦国的威势并且轻视韩国啊。”于是山阳君派这人出使楚国。
Someone had a talk with Lord Shanyang and said, “The state of Qin has conferred the area of Shanyang on you. The state of Qi has conferred the area of Ju on you. The state of Qi and the state of Qin did so because they either attach importance to the state of Han or admire your persona, behavior. Now the troops of the state of Chu have attacked the state of Qi and occupied the area of Ju. They not only pay no attention to damaging the relations with the state of Qi, but also prevent you from taking over the area of Ju. This is nothing but an insult to the states of Qi and Qin，as well as looking down upon the state of Han.” So Lord Shanyang sent this man on a diplomatic mission to the state of Chu,
