Marquis Wen of Wei Wished to Destroy Zhongshan
【原文】
魏文侯欲残中山。常庄谈谓赵襄子曰广魏并中山，必无赵矣！公 何不请公子倾以为正妻，因封之中山？是中山复立也。”
【今译】
魏文侯想消灭中山国。常庄谈对赵襄子说广魏国吞并了中山国， 赵国也定会灭亡了。您为什么不请求娶魏文侯的女儿公子倾为正妻, 并且把她封在中山，这样中山就重新得到保全了
Marquis Wen of the state of Wei wanted to destroy the state of Zhongshan, Chang Zhuangtan told Zhao Xiangzi, “If Wei annexes Zhongshan, your state will definitely be destroyed too. Why not ask Marquis Wen’s permission to marry his daughter—Childe Qing and honour her as the First Lady? Then you can confer Zhongshan on her. Accordingly, the state of Zhongshan can be re-established.”
