名人教英文：「恨上位」与「坐正」
「恨上位」，该就是地道的香港粤语。这番恨，不但与憎恨脱钩，更是反指「爱得不得了」，want something badly，且还会「恨到发烧」—— dying for something、dying to do something。
要上位，一般指本来在下面排队，being in the queue，很想「打尖」插队去霸头位，to jump the queue。在过程中，就会有处心积虑的手段（calculated means）去 ko（kick out）竞争者。ko是潮语，比较传统斯文的讲法是to elbow out（用手肘撞走）、to push aside（推埋一边）、to sideline、marginalise（把人边缘化）等等。
上位﹕to stick out，有「突个头出来」的意象，即to be prominent，受人注目的。这种人通常有博影相的姿势，永远霸前排位﹕
to stick out as a frontrunner。例句﹕
that shoeshine boy (擦鞋仔) and protégé (马仔) of the big boss has been dying for the chairmanship. he has successfully used calculated means to push aside his opponents to now stick out as a frontrunner.
protégé，法文，读pro-te-shay，「受保护者」。一个传神的对等广东口语，是指某人的「o靓」。
坐正，sit up。坐好，sit properly﹔亦即叫人stop fidgeting，不要扭来扭去、不要看似坐立不安。
但广东话的坐正，往往是形容一个人原先不过是「阿二」、以至阿三阿四阿九的身分，排位不过在后面、侧面而矣，总之是坐歪——现在终于「坐正」！有跃登龙门的意思。
the boss is ousted, and the number two now gets the top job. 波士给踢走了，第二号人物如今「坐正」。
oust = force out，解去职、罢黜、取代，to remove somebody from a position, and sometimes in order to take his place，指把人从一个职位移除，同时带一点要取而代之的心。
he ousted a rival and won the seat. 他弄走了对手，赢了那个位。
英文看来没有粤语「坐正」的对等讲法，勉强可用的语带单打一笔，是话人原本似an heir to the throne、「王位继承人」、等待登基，终于有得ascend to the throne、升上王位﹔become king or queen、成王或后。
he ascended to the throne upon his father's death. 他父死后，他就登上最高宝座，「坐正」了。
