对了,如果「好久不见」英文可以讲long time no see,「不行」就是no go,那「人山人海」为什么不说people mountain people sea?
mountains and seas of people,但恐怕许多英文教师都会改做huge crowds of people。
we saw a sea of people at the graduation ceremony.
i am alone in a sea of people.
there were waves of people marching through the city.
there is a non-stop flow of people.
要形容人多至针插不下、爆满,有packed out、filled to capacity、chock-a-block、chock-full︰
the square is packed out.
the concert all is filled to capacity.
the fans were chock-a-block in the waiting area.
(chock-a-block,人多至转不了身、动不了;crammed so tightly together as to prevent movement.)
the park is chock-full of kids.
chock-full也常用于讲人以外的情况︰my work schedules are chock-full.
另外,话说挤拥,英文也用上jam(果酱)或sardine(沙丁鱼)︰
the hall was jam-packed with fans.
the place was sardined with supporters.
the bus was full. we were packed in like sardines.
