nadya: you can't be too careful if you bank on the internet. my friend mira had hundreds of dollars stolen from her account last week because of phishing.
娜迪亚﹕使用网上银行服务，必须十分小心。我朋友米拉遭网上钓金，即phishing，账户上星期给偷了好几百元。
afareen: fishing? i thought that was catching fish.
阿法琳﹕fishing？我以为这个字说的是捕鱼。
nadya: no, p-h-i-s-h-i-n-g, not fishing. it's when you get an e-mail from your bank saying that there is a problem with your account and they ask you to click the link with the bank website and log into your account.
娜迪亚﹕不是fishing，是phishing。通常你会收到银行的电邮，说你的账户有问题，着你点击银行网站的连结，然后登入你的账户。
afareen: what's wrong with that?
阿法琳﹕这有什么不妥当？
nadya: everything. no bank ever sends that kind of e-mail. it's from criminals and the website isn't the bank's, it's a fake. they want you to log into your account so they can get your bank details and password. then they steal your money.
娜迪亚﹕不妥当极了。银行从来不会寄这样的电邮，寄电邮的是罪犯，而那网站也是假的，并非银行所有。他们要你登入你的账户，以便取得你帐户的详情以及密码，然后就偷你的钱。
afareen: that's really scary.
阿法琳﹕那真可怕。
nadya: as long as you never answer that kind of fake e-mail, you'll be all right.
娜迪亚﹕只要你不回答这类弄虚作假的电邮，就不会有事。
娜迪亚说﹕you can't be too careful if you bank on the internet。这一句，假如照字面译做「使用网上银行服务，不能太过小心」，那就错得厉害。
cannot之后，用too、over等带「过分」含义的字，是说「即使极其……，都不能算是过分」，例如﹕(1) you cannot overemphasise this matter（这件事必须万分着重），(2) the importance of frugality cannot be exaggerated（节俭非常重要）。这两句切勿解作「这件事不能过分强调」或「不能夸张节俭之重要」。
phishing是个新字，由fishing变成，两字读法也相同。phishing指在网上做假，引人上钓，骗取其银行数据、密码等，藉以偷窃钱财。动词phish则是把名词的ing抹去而成，这是所谓back formation（逆成法），是英文造字法的一种，例如﹕"edit" is a back formation from "editor"（edit一字，出自editor，是造字的逆成法）。i checked my account to see if i had been phished即「我检查账户，看看有没有遭网上钓金」。
娜迪亚说，网上钓金那种电邮，银行不会发出﹕no bank ever sends that kind of e-mail。留意a kind/sort of之后，可数名词（countable noun）正式应用单数形式，用复数是不大正式的说法。即使是several kinds/sorts of之后，可数名词正式也应用单数，例如﹕(1) i advised him not to keep company with that kind of man（我劝他不要和这种人为伍）。(2) there are three kinds of man（男人有三种）。当然，这两句用men也不算错。
