名人教英文：龙搁浅水
龙搁浅水，难有作为，好惨情，用现代日常话，或就说 he's like a beached whale，一条搁浅在沙滩的鲸鱼，几乎死梗。
龙搁浅水亦可直译a dragon stuck in shallow water，这样描述，大部分人一听大概都拿得到意思，就是he is tied down，像给五花大绑，没得发挥。
若要重点带出这句话中郁郁不得志之意，可一试以下被动式用语﹕
‧being sidelined, marginalised.
给边缘化。
例︰she was being sidelined.
‧being elbowed aside.
给人用手肘推至一旁。
例︰the director gets elbowed aside by the management.
‧being pushed upstairs.
给推至楼上，亦即「升上神枱」。

he is like a dragon stuck in shallow water, and the target (目标) of ridicule (戏弄、嘲讽) by shrimps.
但这样讲英文，翻译味道很重，亦似乎戏剧化了些。不如就说︰
he's like a beached whale. he has lost clout and is subjected to much indignity. 他没有了影响力之余，更要面对侮辱轻蔑。亦即「虎落平阳被犬欺」。
clout 等于 influence（影响力）、power（权力）。而 indignity，跟 dignity（尊严）相反，包括任何不礼貌的对待。
要小心的是，英文也有形容大动物在小环境的现成语句，但意思跟龙搁浅水的「不得志」相反，是说在一个小范畴中不必比并，不受挑战，succeeds in a small area where there is little competition (竞逐) or challenge (挑战)。
big fish/ frog in a small pond.
大鱼/蛙在小池塘中。
he is the big fish in a small pond. 这样形容一个人，包含他是「鸡首」、并非「牛后」，甚至有尊崇之意。
the problem with him is that he is a big frog in a small pond. he needs some challenge. he should get more competition.
