名人教英文：愤怒至「肿」起 ?
用英文讲非常生气、「嬲到爆」，除了i am/was bursting with anger，亦可以来一句：i am swollen with anger. i was swollen with rage.
直译是「我全身因愤怒而胀起」。anger固然是愤怒，而rage就意味形势更坏一点，去到暴怒的层次。又，anger can be hidden, but rage is usually visible ——这是说愤怒或可藏起来，但一个人暴怒了，通常都为人看得见。
回说swollen这个字，大家或都知道解肿起﹕
my left eye was swollen for no particular reason.
我的左眼不知怎地肿了起来。
i tripped and fell and now have a swollen ankle.
我摔了一跤，一边足踝肿了起来。
这一款肿，都属寻常话。许多人未必留意到的，是swollen这个字可用来讲其他有形或无形的物事。像我们说水涨的涨、一条河的泛滥，一样用得上swollen。
一条新闻标题这么说：swollen heilong river triggers floods in northeast china. 黑龙江泛滥，酿成中国东北水灾。
而swollen + with，就是本篇开头的一句，直指会令人「肿胀」 、膨胀起来的感情或态度。除了anger，另有pride（骄傲）、arrogance（傲慢）等。
the parents were swollen with pride.
那些家长骄傲得、引以为荣得不得了。
the official was swollen with arrogance.
这官员极度傲慢，不可一世。
看，用中文讲，这鼓鼓的的情况也不外是「极其」的意思。
swollen来自swell。swell，做动词、形容词都得。
「swell! 」是美式老一辈人赞好的话（即系今日少人用，一般给视为老套），等于wonderful、excellent、fabulous等字，也像我们挂在口边的「好正、好掂」。一个讲法是，swell = sweet + well。
my aunt's swell! = my aunt's super cool!
heavy rains swelled the river.
连场大雨令河水涨起。
new immigrants have swelled the population.
新移民令人口数字暴胀。
另要小心a swollen head、swollen-headed，不是指人头肿了，而是像big-headed一样，批评人conceited，自以为是、「懒醒」。
