Warm-up:
1. Ask and answer.
Pre-task preparation:
1. Competition: ask some students to find out the meaning of some new words with the help of a dictionary.
2. We call the books which can give us useful information reference books( 参考书)
There are some other reference books we usually use in our daily life. Such as anencyclopaedia tells us about facts, a telephone directory tells us about telephone numbers and names.
3. Read the sentences after me and complete the ExA.
While-task procedure:
1. Introduce the alphabet(字母)，alphabetical is its adjective. In reference booksm words and names are usually arranged in alphabetical order. Words starting with a are the first and so on until the letter z.
2. Do ExB1—B3 with class.
3. Do B4—B5 and tell if words have the same first letter, the second letter decides the alphabetical order.
Post-task activity:
More practice: Use group discussion to read the article and answer the questions.
Assignment:
1. Read the article.
