在生活中，有关数字的表达，有时候不是1、2、3、4……就能说清的，很多情况下，我们要用到”第一“、”第二“、”第三“……，在英语中，这类数词被叫做”序数词“。常见的有以下几种情景：
1. 询问日期：
Q：What's the date today? 今天几号？
A：It's March (the) sixth. 今天3月6日。
2. 描述名次
She was the third in the exam. 她那次考试第三名。
3. 描述先后次序
He came in first. 他第一个进来。
除了描述日期以外，其他用到序数词的情况都明显包含了”次序“的含义，大家不假思索就知道什么情况下要用到序数词了。
怎么把基数词变成序数词？
1. 从1-19，一般情况下（除特殊情况以外）只要在基数词后面加上-th就可以了，读作-[θ]，如下所示：
特殊拼写:
1 one first 2 two second 3 three third 5 five fifth
8 eight eighth 9 nine ninth 12 twelve twelfth
规则拼写：
2. 从20开始，10的整数倍：将词尾y变成ie，再加-th构成
例：30 thirty thirtieth 50 fifty fiftieth
70 seventy seventieth 90 ninety ninetieth
3. hundred，thousand，million的序数词均在其后加-th构成，即hundredth，thousandth，millionth
序数词念法：把最后一个基数词变成序数词
例：156 one hundred and fity-sixth
1278 one thousand two hundred and seventy-eighth
200 two hundredth
