比较结构
3-10：no more...than与no less...than
no more...than 不是……正如……不是……
no less...than 和……一样
1．此类结构一共有四种
（1）no more... than...不是……正如……不是……
例：he is no more a student than i (am).
（他不是学生正如我也不是学生一样。）
（2）no less... than 和……一样
例：he is no less good at english than john (is).
（他和约翰一样精通英语。）
（3）not more... than 没有比……更……
例：she is not more beautiful than mary (is).
（她没有玛丽漂亮。）
（4）not less... than 至少与……一样
例：she is not less beautiful than mary (is).
（她至少与玛丽一样美。）
2.no more... than... 不是……正如……不是……
本结构系由下列句型演变而成：
译：他不会唱歌，正如我也不会唱歌一样。
（1）he cannot sing, just as i cannot sing.
（2）he cannot sing not any more than i cannot sing.
①因为在he cannot sing一句中已有not，故not any more than中的not要省略，以避免双重否定，而成any more than,仍译成“与……一样”或“正如”。
②than之后的相同词类要省略，故than i cannot sing中的not要省略，而成than i can sing,由于he cannot sing中已有sing，故than i can sing中的sing要省略，而成than i (am)。
即：he cannot sing not any more than i cannot sing.
= he cannot sing any more than i (can)
(3)在he cannot sing any more than i (can).的结构中，any more可移位至cannot之后，any与not结合，而形成no，后面再接more.
即：he cannot any more sing than i (can).
= he can no more sing than i (can).
（他不会唱歌，正如我也不会唱歌一样。）
换言之，下列三句意思均相同：
he cannot sing, just as i cannot sing.
= he cannot sing any more than i (can).
= he can no more sing than i (can).
译：鲸鱼不是鱼，正如马不是鱼一样。
a whale is not a fish, just as a horse is not a fish.
= a whale is not a finsh not any more than a horse is not a finsh.
整理：
a whale is not a finsh any more than a horse is.
= a whale is no more a fish than a horse is.
注意
在no more...than或not... any more than的结构中，若than之后的词类不同于前面的词类时，则不可省略。
译：他不会唱歌，正如我不会跳舞一样。
he cannot sing, just as icannot dance.
= he cannot sing any more than i cannot dance.
整理：
he cannot sing any more than i can dance.
= he can no more sing than i can dance.
他不是学生，犹如我不是老师一样。
he is not a student, just as i am not a teacher.
= he is not a student any more than i am not a teacher.
整理：
he is not a student any more than i am a teacher.
= he is no more a student than i am a teacher.
注意
happy, good, clever等形容词以及well, hard, fast等副词，在比较级中会形成不规则变化，而成为happier, better, cleverer...或better, harder,faster...。
故置于no more或not any more之后时，不可写成：
no more happy not any more well
no more good not any more hard
no more clever not any more fast
而要写成：
no happier no better
no better no harder
no cleverer no faster
译：他跑不快，正如我一样。
he cannot run fast, just as i cannot run fast.
= he cannot run any more fast than i can.
他的英语不好，就像我一样。
he is not good at english, just as i am not good at english.
= he is not good at english any more than i am.
= he is no more good at english than i am.
3.no less... than 和……一样
＝as...as
由于no less...than就等于as...as,故no less之后可置副词或形容词修饰。
(1)副词
例：he studies no less hard than john.
= he studies as hard as john.
（他和约翰一样用功。）
(2)形容词
例：he is not less good at english than john.
= he is as good at english as john.
（他和约翰一样精通英语。）
4.not more...than 比……更多
= at best as...as 最多只是和……一样
本结构较为简单，在more...than（比……更）之前加上not即可。
例：she is more beautiful than mary.
（她比玛丽美。）
---- she is not more beautiful than mary.
= she is at best as beautiful as mary.
（她不比玛丽美丽——顶多只是和玛丽一样美。）
5.not less... than 没有比……更少
= at least as...as 至少与……一样
例：she is not less beautiful than mary.
= she is at least as beautiful than mary.
（她至少和玛丽一样美。）
6.本单元典型句型
例：he is no more handsome than i.
= he is not handsome any more than i.
（他不潇洒，就如我一样。——两人都不潇洒。）
he is no less handsome than i.
= he is as handsome as i.
（他和我一样潇洒。）
he is not more handsome than i.
= he is at best as handsome as i.
（他不比我潇洒。——顶多跟我一样潇洒。）
he is not less handsome than i.
= he is at least as handsome as i.
（他至少跟我一样潇洒。）
