名词在句子中，可以扮演多重角色:主语、宾语、宾语补语、主语补语、同位语、称呼语、副词、关系代词。
POINT 1 作主语
例子：His brother has been in the army for three years.
他哥哥已在部队服役三年了。
This book is very interesting.
这本书非常有趣。
POINT 2 作宾语
1.作及物动词的宾语
例子：We study English.
我们学习英语。
Have you ever seen the film?
你曾看过这部电影吗?
2.作介词的宾语
例子：She was looking after her younger sister this time yesterday.
昨天这时她正在照顾她的小妹妹。
He'll speak at the meeting.
他将在会议上发言。
POINT 3 作宾语补语
例子：We call her Miss Wang.
我们叫她王老师。
POINT 4 作主语补语
例子：They are both teachers.
他们俩都是老师。
Mr. Lin is a worker.
林先生是个工人。
POINT 5 作同位语
例子：The small desks and chairs are for us students.
这些小桌椅是供我们学生用的。
POINT 6 做称呼语
例子：Helen, open the door.
海伦，开门。
M r. Li, don't smoke here.

POINT 7作副词
例子：She was late three times this week.
这星期她迟到了三次。
The meeting lasted three hours.
