1. 一是在回答问题时（a ) ，一是在接着别人说话时（b ) :
a . when are we due toarrive ？—— in about two hours .
我们什么时候到？—— 大约两个钟头后到。
will you join us ？—— i should love to .
你愿意和我们一道去吗？—— 我愿意。
h ave you sp oken to him ？—— not yet .
你给他讲了吗？― 还没有。
b . it looks like a shower ．—— yes , somewhat .
看起来要卜一阵雨了。—— 是的，有点像。
i went to an exhibition this morning ．—— with whom ?
我今天去参观了一个展览。—— 和谁去的？
i hope i am not disturbing you too much ．—— certainly not .
我希望我不会过分打扰你。—— 当然不会。
2 ，在陈述自己的意见（a ) ，提出问题或要求（b ）或是在感叹句中（c ）都可以有字词省略：
