1. on:
l）在(一平面上):
Tim is sitting with Sara on a bench．
蒂姆和莎拉坐在一条长凳上。
He pinned the badge on his coat.
他把徽章别在大衣上。
They traveled down the river on a wooden raft．
他们乘坐木筏顺江流而下。
2）在(一条线上):
They are still sitting on the fence.
他们仍持骑墙的态度。
He comes from a small city on the Yangtze River.
他来自长江边上的一座小城。
Our apartment is on 6th Avenue.
我们的住房在第六大道上。
3）在(某一天，某天早上等):
They arrived in Shanghai on May 20．
他们五月二十日到达上海。
On Sunday morning，he gets up late．
星期天早上他起来很晚。
On the weekend，John doesn’t go to work.
周末约翰不上班。
4）在（刚……）的时候：
On reaching the city he called up Julie.
一到城里他就给朱莉打了电话。
I’11 write to him on hearing from you．
一接到你的信我就给他写信。
On his return he told us about the meeting．

5)（on和come，go等动词连用)表示目的：
She has been away on a long trip.
她出去做了一次长途旅行。

6）关于(意思接近about):
He made a speech on the current situation．
他做了一个关于当前形势的报告。
They asked him to write on the Irish question

7) (on和一些名词连用作表语)表示状态活动等：
The workers are on strike again．
工人们又罢上了。
He was on night shift that week．
那星期他上夜班。
We should be on guard against such people.
