1. in:
l）在……内：
The telephone is in my study．
电话在我书房里。
Which hotel shall we stay in?
我们住哪一家旅馆？
She works in the studio in the morning．
上午她在画室工作。
2）在（一段时间）内：
In the evening we arrived at the hotel．
傍晚时我们到达旅馆。
I returned to China in the middle of June．
我六月中旬回到中国。
Mary started school in 1992．
玛丽1992 年开始上学。
3）在（一段时间）后：
I'll come round in a day or two．
我一两天就回来。
In an hour there was a telegram back．
一个钟头后就回电报了。
I'll be back in no time．
我一会儿就回来。
4）表示状态、特征等：
Everybody was in high spirits．
人人都情绪高昂。
His mind was in confusion．
他脑子里很乱。
Do you have these pants in yellow?
这种裤子你有黄色的吗？
5)(引起短语作状语)表示方式、目的等：
She looked at us in anger．
她气愤地瞧着我们。
Lotta danced round in excitement.

6）在……的过程中：
In doing so he fell into contradictions．
在这样做时他又陷入矛盾了。
In doing we learn．
在干中学。
7）在……方面：
Did you have any difficulty in finding the place?
你找这个地方有困难吗？
She was weak in mathematics．
她数学不行。
8）在……上：
They aceepted the plan in principle．
他们在原则上接受了这个计划：
It's only correct in theory.
这只是在理论上止确。
