129. between , beyond 和but 的用法
1. between:
l）在（两者）之间：
I sat between Smith and Jane．
我坐在史密斯和简之间。
Come between nine and ten o'clock．
在九、十点之间来。
2）在三个以上的人或东西间：
The three children saved ￡100 between them.
三个孩子一起存了100英镑。
They don't know the difference between wheat，oats and barley.
他们分不清小麦、燕麦和大麦。
3）用于某些成语：
Just between ourselves, I don't think he did right.
咱们私下里说说，我觉得他做得不对。
He could read between the lines．

We'll share the room between us．

2. beyond:
1）在……外边，在……那一边：
Beyond the tow cottages stood Li's house．

The lake is beyond that hill．

2）超出：
It's expensive and beyond their reach．

To do this was quite beyond my power．

3）无法……：

3. but:
l）除了(多和nobody, nothing, who 等代词连用):
I haven't told anybody but you．

Who but a fool would do such a thing?

2）用于某些成语：
He lives in the next house but one．
他住在隔壁过去一家。
He was the last but one to arrive．
