Veteran Taiwanese singer Frankie Kao dies
台湾资深艺人高凌风病逝
Taiwanese singer Frankie Kao Ling-feng, who was stricken with leukaemia, died on Monday evening. He was 63 years old.
台湾歌手高凌风因罹患血癌于周一晚病逝。今年63岁。
News of his death was reported by Taiwanese media, and confirmed by his personal assistant.
他离世的消息经由台湾媒体报道，并被他的助理证实。
In his heyday in the 1970s and 1980s, the flamboyant star was known for his dance hits, such as A Fire Torch In Winter and A Girl's Dimples, and energetic performances.
在他的全盛期1970至80年代，“不死火鸟”因其大热舞曲而盛名，如《冬天里的一把火》和《姑娘的酒窝》以及依附歌曲的有力舞蹈。
He was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2012 and had undergone several rounds of chemotherapy. But Kao, who performed with fellow veteran artists in Singapore last November, had told the local media: "I don't believe I can still count on that to treat my illness."
他于2012年被确诊为血癌并接受了几次化疗。但就在去年11月，高凌风在新加坡与众资深艺人一同表演时告诉媒体：“我不指望还能靠它来治好我。”
The singer, who had dropped from 76kg to 57kg at the time of the interview, said that he coughed so badly that it hurt to even breathe and "when you sneeze, even your soul gets drawn away". Even taking a sip of water was excruciating, he added, "like four knives simultaneously stabbing my throat".
在接受采访时，高凌风已从原本的76公斤清减至57公斤。他提到他咳嗽的太严重以至于影响呼吸，以及：“当你打喷嚏时，你的都灵魂好像被一同喷出”。甚至连啜一小口水都很折磨人，他补充道：“就像四把刀同时刺着我的喉咙”。
But he continued to sing to keep himself going. According to Taiwanese media reports, Kao, who had given up on treatment earlier this year, was planning to hold a concert next month to mark his 40th anniversary as an artist.
但是他仍坚持唱歌让自己走下去。据台湾媒体报道，高凌风在今年早些时候中断治疗，打算于下月举办一场演唱会纪念自己出道40周年。
