hong kong secretary for food and health york chow saturday said some 100 people from the metropark hotel, where the mexican man with influenza a/h1n1 once stayed, are being isolated and in stable condition.
speaking on a local radio show on saturday morning, chow said up till 7 a.m., 188 guests, visitors and staff at the metropark hotel located in wanchai, hong kong island were being quarantined in the hotel, hospitals or the lady mac lehose holiday village in sai kung. of them, 65 felt slightly unwell, a total of 180 have been given medication.
the mexican man, 25, was confirmed on may 1 to be the first influenza a h1n1, formerly known as human swine flu, case in the city. he has been admitted to the princess margaret hospital and is stable.
the patient arrived in hong kong via shanghai on april 30 on the china eastern airlines flight mu505 and checked in the metropark hotel.
among the 36 passengers sitting in three rows in front of and behind the mexican man on the mu505 flight, six had already left hong kong. altogether 19 passengers on the flight have contacted the local health authorities and are now being monitored at different hospitals. the shanghai authorities are contacting the cabin crew.
chow urged the two taxi drivers and others who have had contact with the mexican patient to call the center for health protection as soon as possible.
"the next seven days are very crucial. the government will not take any risks and will do our best in preventing the virus from spreading in the community," he said.
to ensure sufficient staff, the hong kong hospital authority has canceled a medical conference scheduled on may 4.
"we have sufficient supply of anti-flu medication and we have liaised with pharmaceutical companies to increase our stock," chow added.
香港食物及卫生局局长周一岳星期六表示，香港湾仔维景酒店已经有约一百人被隔离，目前情况稳定。此前，患有甲型h1n1流感的墨西哥籍人士曾入住该酒店。
周一岳在周六早间播报的一则电台节目中称，截至上午七时，湾仔维景酒店的188名住客和职员已被妥善隔离至酒店、医院以及香港康乐及文化事务署。其中，65人略感不适，180人接受了药物治疗。
5月1日，一名25岁墨西哥籍男子被证实患有甲型h1n1流感（此前称为猪流感），成为香港首例甲型h1n1流感患者。目前，该患者已被玛嘉烈医院收治，病情稳定。
4月30日，该患者乘坐东方航空公司mu505航班由上海抵港，之后入住湾仔维景酒店。
在mu505航班位于此墨西哥籍男子前后三排的36名乘客当中，6名已经离港。此航班上另外19名乘客已经联系了当地的卫生机构，目前正在不同的医院接受医学观察。同时，上海当局也正在与该航班机组人员取得联系。
周一岳亦呼吁与墨西哥患者有过接触的两名出租车司机与其他人员尽快与香港卫生署卫生防护中心取得联系。
周一岳说：“未来的七天非常关键，政府会严密监视，以竭尽全力防止流感病毒在社区扩散。”
为了保证有足够的医疗人员投入治疗工作，香港医院管理局取消了原定于5月4日召开的医学会议。
周一岳最后补充说：“我们有充足的抗流感药物储备，我们也联系了制药厂进一步增加储备。”
