According to the Daily Mail on February 14, the world's earliest functional prosthetic body part - an artificial big toe - was found attached to the foot of an ancient Egyptian mummy who lived 3,000 years ago. The three-part wood and leather artifact was housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
