RICHARD QUEST, BUSINESS TRAVELLER
Cabin crew are the real seasoned travelers. They always know the right places to visit when down-route. Last month, Lufthansa showed us some places to visit in Moscow. This month, since we're on a budget, we've asked Pauline Frommer, the author of the New York City: Spend Less See More guide to show us what to do in the Big Apple from morning, noon and night.

I think what makes New York so remarkable5 is the fast pace here and the opportunities. Everything is constantly changing. You never know what you're going to find around the next corner. I'm Pauline Frommer, the creator of the Pauline Frommer guidebooks. My father, Arthur Frommer, founded the Frommer guidebooks.

You don't have to give up comfort. You don't have to give up experiences to save a lot of money when you travel.

Now we're at Upstairs at Bouley, the less-expensive restaurant from famed restaurateur David Bouley. I have to say David Bouley won my heart with what he did after 9/11. He set Up a restaurant at Ground Zero, and he fed over one million relief workers. This is the calamari salad. The dressing on this has 40 different ingredients on it, yet it costs just $9.50. Mmm, it's delicious.

Chess has been a big part of the Greenwich Village scene for decades. This little chess shop has been in business, I think, since 1973. Grand masters play against average joes who wander in off the street. It's really a world unto itself. It's fascinating.

Ah, ChikaLicious! I love ChikaLicious. It's a dessert restaurant. What could be better? You go there, and you get a three-course dessert for very little money, but it's unusual dessert. Poached pear gelée and toasted almond ice cream. Mmm.

I've gained 20 pounds overeating at dozens upon dozens of restaurants, so I can recommend the very best.

You don't have anything for dieters? No.

Here we are at Jim Caruso's Cast Party, and it really is a party. Monday night is the night when the Broadway shows, or most of them, are dark, but performers love to keep on performing, so they go to Jim Caruso's and they get up and sing.

A remarkable number of big stars just perform there for free. Liza Minnelli has been there. If you're a Broadway buff, Jim Caruso's Cast Party is the place to go.
