As you say, we're looking at culture today as we keep our eye on Poland, and we decided that because Warsaw is such a dynamic city and has such a buzz about it. We wondered what you would do if you had 24 hours to go around the capital of Poland. So, we looked at an online guide, Warsaw-Life.com, to see what's best for us.

This is the Warsaw Rising Museum, a great place to visit to learn more about Poland's recent history. Walking on the cobblestone streets with enemy fire in the background, you are transported6 back to August 1,1944, when it all started, where civilians7 and soldiers fought for what they believed in. Men, women and children lost their lives fighting for freedom.

The Wedel Chocolate Lounge, located in this building for...um, from the beginning, since the late 19th century. It's the oldest chocolate lounge in Poland, so there's definitely history involved. Instead of the typical coffee shops that many of us know people like to come to enjoy hot and cold chocolate beverages made from Wedel's top-quality milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white, of course. Wedel is Poland's oldest chocolate brand, with over 150 years of history.

This is a very popular bar, just off of one of Warsaw's chicest streets, Nowa Swiat, very popular with the locals. They have over 115 different types of vodka, chilled and ready to serve, [the] majority of which are Polish vodkas. And in addition to that, they make their own vodka from herbs, fruit, spices, depending on the season.

They serve the best traditional Polish pierogi, or Polish dumplings, in Warsaw. Their motto is "only grandmother makes better pierogis." Everything is handmade, natural ingredients. Every day they make over 1,500 fresh, individual pierogis for their clients. You can serve them either boiled or fried. Usually people are split down the middle whether they prefer one or the other.

No visit to our city's complete without a stop at the Old Town Market Square. It was completely demolished during the war, but rebuilt using Canaletto's paintings and drawings done by architectural students before the war. Here we have the symbol of our city, the Warsaw Mermaid.
