[00:09.85]My friends, we have---we have come to the end of a long journey. 
[00:14.74]The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly. 
[00:19.45]A little while ago, I had the honor of calling Senator Barack Obama to congratulate him.
[00:25.59]To congratulate him on being elected the next president of the country that we both love. 
[00:32.54]This is an historic election, 
[00:34.74]and I recognize the special significance it has for African-Americans and for the special pride that must be theirs tonight.
[00:46.34]I've always believed that America offers opportunities to all who have the industry and will to seize it. 
[00:53.94]Senator Obama believes that, too. 
[00:57.40]These are difficult times for our country. 
[01:00.47]And I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face. 
[01:08.00]I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, 
[01:14.88]but offering our next president our good will 
[01:17.87]and earnest effort to find ways to come together to find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences and help restore our prosperity, 
[01:28.25]defend our security in a dangerous world, 
[01:30.33]and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited. 
[01:37.30]It is natural. 
[01:41.47]It's natural, tonight, to feel some disappointment. 
[01:43.33]But tomorrow, we must move beyond it and work together to get our country moving again. 
[01:50.75]We fought---we fought as hard as we could. 
[01:53.62]And though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours. 
[01:59.37]This campaign was and will remain the great honor of my life, 
[02:03.88]and my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude for the experience and to the American people for giving me a fair hearing before deciding 
[02:15.10]that Senator Obama and my old friend Senator Joe Biden should have the honor of leading us for the next four years.
[02:20.51]Tonight -tonight, more than any night, 
[02:23.21]I hold in my heart nothing but love for this country and for all its citizens, 
[02:29.75]whether they supported me or Senator Obama-whether they supported me or Senator Obama. 
[02:35.43]I wish Godspeed to the man who was my former opponent and will be my president. 
[02:41.84]And I call on all Americans, as I have often in this campaign, to not despair of our present difficulties, 
[02:50.33]but to believe, a1ways, in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here. 
[02:58.60]Americans never quit. 
[03:01.13]We never surrender. 
[03:03.13]We never hide from history. 
[03:05.34]We make history.
