ride roughshod over

rough是「粗糕」，shod则是shoe (钉马蹄铁)的过去 分词。roughshod是指「在马蹄铁上钉上钉头」，使它表面凹 凸不平，可以防滑。ride roughshod over字面上的意思是「碰到泥淳路面， 仍然凭仗着打钉的马蹄铁硬踩过去」，引申为「以高压、强硬 的手法来克服困难或压过反对意见，以达到目的」。
