老本，生息的本钱
从前养鸡的农夫拿走鸡蛋后，会在窝里放个假蛋，第二 天才会继续有蛋可收。这个假蛋就是nest egg (窝中蛋)。 nest egg后来引申为一般的「本钱」，尤其是可以用来赚钱的 「老本」。

把国家的资产脱手而不去吸收新资金，这种作法有点像是一个人 把房子卖掉去买新车。等到车子终于报废的时候，已经没有老本 可买新车了。
