Hercules是希腊神话中有名的大力士，天神宙斯之子。 因为犯了错，被罚到人间，听候一位国王差遗做十件苦工赎 罪，包括清洗一间养了几千匹马的马厩，以及到地狱偷回有 三个头的看门狗等°因此a Herculean task表示「极艰含巨、 超乎凡人能耐的重任」。
