致命的一击

coup de grace是法文词组，直译成英文是stroke of mercy (人道的一击）。如果看到一只受重伤的动物还在垂死 挣扎，比较人道的作法是给牠一枪免得牠饱受煎熬，这就是 coup de grace，引申为「致命的一击」或「最后的一击」。
