Sick of hearing about Britney Spears in the tabloids? Wishing you could just hear more music from the lady? Well, luckily for you, the pop star has announced she will release a new album in March. The yet-to-be-titled disc will be Spears’ seventh full-length and first batch of new material since 2008’s Circus.
Spears announced the release via Twitter (how else?) last week, writing, “I’m almost done with my new album and it will be coming out this March. I AM IN L-O-V-E WITH IT!” It was actually Spears’ birthday that prompted her to reveal the news. Before announcing the new disc she posted, “My fans mean the world to me & waking up to all of your wishes really made me smile, so here’s something that I hope will make you smile.”
It had been previously announced that Dr. Luke and Max Martin were co-producing the album (potentially along with a few other songwriters/producers), which will come out on Jive. Dr. Luke told the Hollywood Reporter, “(Britney)’s such an icon, I don’t want to let anyone down. But most importantly, I want to make good music.” He added, “I’m excited to be co-executive producing with Max Martin, the person who kind of invented Britney, and to make good music. And she’s such an amazing vehicle to getting that music out to a lot of people in every country.”
