These simple instructions will show you how to write your letter and provide ideas for words that will warm his heart. You love your Dad, so why not show it with a Fathers Day gift that is one of a kind? Just like him!
1. MAKE A LIST
For your Fathers Day gift love letter, first make a quick list you will use to construct your letter. List 3 of your father's best qualities. These are traits you like or respect most about him. Next, list your favorite Dad memory. This could be from the distant past or more recent, but it should be a memory your Father might not know you cherish. Last, list 3 ways your father has improved your life. This could be by his examples of kindness or the fact that he's always there for you.
2. ADDRESS YOUR LETTER
This is not a physical address for mailing, but the name you use to express your love. Open your letter using your favorite pet name for your Dad. Example: "Dear Daddy", or "To my Sweet Papa", or even simply "Father".
3. PARAGRAPH 1
Tell Dad what your Fathers Day love letter is all about.
Example: "I wanted to write you a letter to tell you how much I love you. You've always been a great father to me. I want to tell you how much I appreciate you and the wonderful memories I have of our times together."
4. PARAGRAPH 2
Refer to your list of your favorite Dad qualities. Write a sentence for each one and follow with a sentence about how much that quality means to you. Example: "You have always been a kind and patient father. Even when I tried your patience, you never stopped loving and supporting me." Write one pair of sentences for each of the qualities on your list. Together, these pairs will be your 2nd paragraph.
5. PARAGRAPH 3
Write a brief description of the favorite memory you listed. Name the memory. Tell him how you felt during the event. Tell him how you feel about it now. Thank him.
Example: "I will always remember the time you took me to the Circus. I felt so special having that time alone with you. When I think back to that time, I still feel the love you shared with me. Thank you for taking the time to show me I was important to you."
You can be as detailed as you like.
6. PARAGRAPH 4
Like paragraph #2, write a pair of sentences for each of the ways he has improved your life. Remember, as a Fathers Day gift, nothing is better than showing your Dad how his fathering has helped you.
Example: "You never failed to support me no matter what I tried to accomplish. You gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams." Or, "Even when I disobeyed and let you down, you were always patient with me. Your example taught me how to be a better parent to my own children."
Write a pair of sentences for each example on your list. Together, these sentences will be your fourth paragraph.
7. PARAGRAPH 5
Write a sentence thanking your Dad again. Then a second sentence wishing him a happy Birthday, Fathers Day, or just a happy day.
Example: "I will always be grateful for the love and kindness you have shown me throughout the years. I hope you have a wonderful Fahters Day."
8. Ending ~ Sign your letter with your father's favorite nickname for you.
