A friend of mine is getting married for a second time. Do I really have to go all out on gifts again?

If you went above and beyond the first go-round, your desire to give another generous gift has most likely decreased (we don't blame you). Start with the sum you can actually afford and then deduct (or not) based on how much you're willing to give this particular person for this particular event at this particular time in your life. The same goes for the engagement, bachelorette party and wedding itself. Gift giving is a personal choice...if she's a real friend, "you" will be gift enough.
