Kansas state Rep. Virgil Peck (R-Racistville) is a stupid, stupid man. He has to be to even joke about using hunters in helicopters to kill illegal immigrants. Murder is soooooooo hilarious.
According to The Kansas City Star, during a House Appropriations Committee discussion of controlling feral swine, a committee member discussed how hunters in helicopters are used to control the hog population. Here's what Peck said: "Looks like to me, if shooting these immigrating feral hogs works, maybe we have found a (solution) to our illegal immigration problem." Zing!
Did Peck apologize? Not even close. He told the Lawrence Journal-World that he was joking -- and "I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person." There are a lot of people in southeast Kansas who would say the views of Virgil Peck don't reflect their own.
Appropriations Chair Marc Rhoades acknowledged that Peck's comment was inappropriate and dished out the lightest of wrist slaps, telling the Journal-World: "Hopefully he won't do it again."
You know what would ensure he doesn't? Stripping him of his committee assignments. Or maybe Peck should consider doing the right thing, resigning and taking his ignorant ass back to southeast Kansas, where he and his buddies can make all the racist jokes they want. Maybe he could join the border patrol.
Peck, ever the keen judge of the media climate, told the Journal-World that he thought the controversy over his comment was over. Not even close. I'll be surprised if we don't see Peck on The Daily Show.
