The clays consisted of illite and chlorite, indicating weathering was weak and physical weathering dominant. Carbonate mainly includes dolomite, aragonite and gaylussite in Huangyangtan, calcite and aragonite in high terrace of Zabuye Lake, and dolomite in Qiulinanmu Lake.
西藏扎布耶湖、秋里南木湖湖区粘土矿物主要是伊利石和绿泥石，物理风化作用占优势地位；扎布耶盐湖黄羊滩碳酸盐矿物主要是白云石、文石和单斜钠钙石，阶地主要是方解石、文石，秋里南木湖为白云石；植被为半灌木半荒漠化草原；介形虫以广盐度和广温度种属为主。
