Dunaliella salina (D. salina) belongs to Chlorophyta, Chlorophyceae, Volvocales and its shape and structure are very similar to Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (C. reinhardtii) except for lacking of cell wall. It is a kind of ellipse or pear-shaped unicellular tolerant alga with the length of six to fifteen um.
杜氏盐藻属绿藻门绿藻纲团藻目，除缺乏细胞壁外，其形态和结构特征与衣藻十分相似，是一种原生质裸露的嗜盐性浮游单细胞藻，长约6-15μm，呈椭圆形或梨形，有双鞭毛，能在水中游动。
